GO Volunteer

Project Introduction

The project originated from the Environmental Protection Department’s initiative, “Green Road – Recycling Stations and Environmental Education Workshops,” with the aim of developing rural outreach recycling services. During its first phase, the “Go Green Volunteer” programme successfully promoted waste reduction and recycling training in the rural areas of North East New Territories. It also helps villager to establish sustainable recycling habits.Building on these achievements, and with funding support from the Environment and Conservation Fund, the current phase has expanded to cover 40 villages across the eastern and western New Territories. The programme is co-organised by Hong Kong Youth Development Volunteer Company, Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation, and Environmental Protection Department. Apart from training on waste reduction, smart electric recycling vehicle programme also provides scheduled collection services directly to rural communities, ensuring accessibility and embedding the principles of sustainable development into daily village life.
